An amazing and intimate J.S. Bach Concert on Solo Electric Bass
Next Saturday 17th September there will be a very innovative and special concert, where the beautiful sound of the Electric Bass meets some of the famous work of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Mauricio Nader, a Chilean bass player and composer based in Berlin for more than three years, has just published his new solo album, which consists of all the Bach’s Cello Suites performed on Solo Electric bass, with an exquisite performance and delicate sound. This repertoire is very popular among many bass players, but only to play just one or two movements here and there. Now, this is the first time in the history of music that this work is entirely recorded on the instrument, with excellent results.
The concert consist in a selection of movements from the suites, plus repertoire from Latin-America and own compositions from Mauricio, all of them arranged for solo Electric Bass, in order to share his native culture and musical message with the audience.
This work was funded by the “Deutscher Hilfsverein für das Albert-Schweitzer-Spital in Lambarene e.V.” (DHV), which is an association that preserves the legacy of Albert Schweitzer. He was a great scholar and performer of the music of J.S. Bach. Mauricio gives his sincere thanks to this association for the opportunity they gave him to work on this album here in Germany.
