About
Mauricio Nader is an award-winning Chilean bassist and composer based in Berlin, Germany.
Over the course of his career, he has performed hundreds of concerts, toured in Chile and Europe, recorded extensively as both a soloist and band member, worked with orchestras and ensembles, and collaborated with musicians from very different areas of the music industry.
His work has taken him from rock and metal stages to chamber music, recording studios and major concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonie.
Today, his main focus is his career as a solo electric bass concert artist.
But getting there has been a long process.
From Chile to a Life in Music
Mauricio was born in Santiago, Chile.
He discovered the electric bass through rock and metal and quickly understood that this was the instrument he wanted to play.
What followed was not a straight line towards a solo career.
For many years, music meant bands, rehearsals, recording sessions, tours, collaborations and learning how to work with very different people in very different situations.
That became an important part of his musical education.
Before moving to Germany, Mauricio spent many years working actively within the Chilean music scene, along with many European tours.
He became a member of several bands and projects, recorded albums and toured extensively, particularly within rock, metal and instrumental music.
His collaborations included projects such as Hidalgo, Six Magics, Claudio Cordero Trío, Alejandro Silva Power Cuarteto, among others.
He also worked in recording projects involving internationally established musicians and producers, including producer David Prater, known for his work with Dream Theater, and musicians such as Chris Adler, Greg Howe and Doug Aldrich.
During these years, Mauricio was not only developing as a bass player.
He was learning how records are made, how tours work, how musicians interact on stage and how a professional project is built over time.

“Many years ago, I had some demos as a solo guitar player, recorded just for fun and uploaded to a guitar competition website. When I showed them to Mauricio, he immediately convinced me to record those songs professionally and go on tour in Chile under my own name. Since then, with my band I have released five albums and completed many tours. Mauricio was part of the first three albums and accompanied me on numerous concerts of those tours. Moving to Berlin
In 2019, Mauricio moved from Chile to Berlin.
It meant rebuilding a professional network in a new country, in a different language and within a different music industry.
Collaborative work became an important part of that process.
He began working with musicians and ensembles in Germany while continuing to develop his own solo career.
Berlin also gave him access to musical environments very different from those he had experienced before, from independent projects and recording studios to large symphonic productions.
Since living in Germany, Mauricio has performed in a wide variety of live settings: clubs, cultural venues, festivals, theatres and major concert halls.
One of the most significant has been his work with ORSO, The Rock Symphony Orchestra and its large-scale Rock Symphony Night productions.
These concerts combine rock band, orchestra, choir and soloists, with more than 200 musicians involved in some productions.
Through ORSO, Mauricio has performed on major stages around Germany, including the Berlin Philharmonie.
It is a very different musical role from standing alone on stage with an electric bass, and that is precisely why it has remained valuable.
Playing inside an ensemble of that size requires listening, precision and an understanding of how one individual part contributes to something much larger.

Working as a Studio Bassist
Recording became another substantial part of Mauricio's career.
Over the years, he recorded electric bass for numerous artists and projects, working both in professional studios and later from his own recording setup in Berlin.
The work covered very different musical situations. Sometimes it meant arriving with fully written parts, and sometimes understanding what a producer wanted and finding the right bass line within a few takes.
The styles changed, but the job remained the same: understand the music and contribute what the song actually needed.

More Than One Musical World
Over the years, Mauricio has worked in contexts that rarely appear together on the same résumé.
Rock, pop, world and metal bands.
Studio sessions.
Symphonic productions.
Duos and trios.
International tours.
Large concert halls.
Small venues.
And, throughout all of it, his own work as a solo electric bass performer.
Mauricio's main professional focus today is his work as a solo electric bass concert artist.
In this project, the electric bass takes the principal musical role.
Sometimes it is completely alone: no loops, no backing tracks and no other instruments. In other pieces, it remains the main voice while other instruments provide accompaniment.
His repertoire includes classical music, Latin American music and original compositions, alongside music drawn from other parts of his musical background.
The aim is not to replace the traditional role of the electric bass. It is simply to show another possibility for the instrument.
And the many years Mauricio has spent playing with other musicians remain very much part of that work.
And he is always open to collaborate with everyone who plays great music.
